Ever since she was very small, Carolina Rabei has loved drawing. After attaining a BA in Graphic Design in Moldova, she received a distinction in Children’s Book Illustration from the prestigious Cambridge School of Art in 2014.
Carolina’s stunning debut picture book illustrating Walter de la Mare’a poem, Snow (Faber), was published to critical acclaim, nominated for the esteemed Kate Greenaway Medal, and featured on The Independent‘s list of ’11 Best Books for 4 to 7-Year-Olds’. Carolina went on to illustrate more of de la Mare’s work for Faber: The Ride-by-Nights, Summer Evening and Silver.
Carolina is known for building worlds of warmth and heart. Her latest picture book, Little Lost Fox (Egmont, February 2020), tells the heartfelt story of friendship in the great outdoors. When a little girl loses her fox toy, she discovers it’s been taken by a real-life fox cub, but the cub is lost too – can she help it find its way home?
Carolina loves working on a diverse range of projects and her artwork reveals a unique mix of traditional as well as digital techniques.
